Arlene's Half Marathon Triumph

On a bright but brisk day, Arlene, a proud Moor House parent, laced up her running shoes and tackled the Surrey Half Marathon in support of Moor House School & College.

Despite battling a tough cold over the weekend, she powered through the 13.1-mile course with determination, crossing the finish line in an impressive time of 1 hour and 53 minutes.

"It wasn’t my best run, but I got through it," Arlene shared.

"The atmosphere was fantastic, and the support from the crowds, especially in the last two miles, was incredible.

"It’s such a well-organised event, and having Woking Leisure Centre available to stay warm before the start made a big difference."

The half-marathon's scenic route took runners on a single-loop journey through central Woking and its picturesque countryside, offering an excellent opportunity for participants to achieve a personal best. Alongside the main race, there was also a 5k run and a junior race, making it an event for all ages and abilities.

Arlene's dedication wasn’t just about the race itself; it was about giving back to the school that has made a significant difference in her son Ben’s life. Through her efforts, she raised an outstanding £700 for Moor House School & College.

"Ben is absolutely thriving at the school and is so happy to be there.

"It’s my pleasure to raise money to support the incredible work the staff are doing for him and all the children."

Arlene is already looking forward to next year’s event on Sunday, March 22nd, and encourages others to join her.

"It’s a great course if you’re looking for a personal best, and the community spirit is wonderful. I’d definitely do it again."

Congratulations, Arlene, on your fantastic achievement, and thank you for your dedication to Moor House School & College!
