Supporting Christmas Shoe Box Appeal
Moor House School & College students have been busy packing shoe boxes in aid of the Samaritans Purse Operation Christmas Child Appeal.
Shoe Boxes which have been carefully packed with gifts for a specific gender and age range are taken to countries where children lack the basic amenities. These boxes offer hope, love and joy to those less fortunate than ourselves.
A small group of year 10 students took the boxes to Holy Trinity Church in Redhill on Monday 11th November. A group of volunteers met us to collect the boxes; they took the students around the church and explained what happened. Students learnt that a team of volunteers work until late in the night to check donated boxes, add to any that are sparse and make new boxes from supplies that have been donated or bought through donations given to the church.
Students found out that the boxes were hoped to be sent to Belarus in Russia. When we got back to school we looked up on a map and researched the area in more detail.
Students felt a sense of pride and are looking forward to producing a box next year for this wonderful cause.
